The purpose of Student Support Services is to assist children and young people facing a range of barriers to learning to achieve their educational and developmental potential through the provision of a range of strategies and specialised supports at individual, class, school and area levels. This is an exciting opportunity exists for a highly self-motivated team player to provide social work services to schools in the Western Melbourne Area. 

As a Social Worker with Student Support Services, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary area-based team to build the capabilities of schools to support children and young people to access education. You will provide a comprehensive range of services to school aged students to improve wellbeing and student learning. You will have highly developed communication, networking and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to liaise with a range of people in the education community and beyond.

The successful applicant will initiate, develop and implement student wellbeing programs within a school network, as well as provide leadership within the Student Support Services team.  You will provide advice that will influence learning strategies, prepare policy advice for consideration by school network leadership teams, as well as possess sound written and verbal communication as well as analytical skills. As a SSS Social Worker you will identify and develop strategies to help build capability of schools.

The position is based at Flemington Primary School. It is a .5 FTE position until 31/6/2021.
