About us

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. This role operates within the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT) which sits within the Specialist Courts and Programs division of the Magistrates' Court of Victoria. VOCAT provides financial assistance to victims of crime committed in Victoria. VOCAT aims to assist victims of crime in their recovery by providing an accessible and empathetic service for those who require financial support.

About the role

The role of the Standards and Compliance Officer is to improve the operation of the Tribunal across Victoria and its effectiveness in responding to victims of crime. It is a Fixed Term position located at the William Cooper Justice Centre Melbourne. The key duties of this position are to review and redevelop existing operational procedure manuals, policy and procedures; support delivery of a structured training program to Tribunal Officers, registrars and administrative officers performing duties relating to the Tribunal; and to contribute to the development and implementation of an internal audit and compliance framework. This role supports all projects and change initiatives for the Tribunal.

The Tribunal seeks candidates with strong knowledge of the practices, procedures and legislation applicable to the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal.
