Support Officer, H.M. Prison Dhurringile – Department of Justice and Community Safety (Youth Employment Program)

If you're aged between 18 and 29, and you're currently unemployed or have had your hours at work greatly reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we would love for you to consider becoming a support officer for the Department of Justice and Community Safety (This is an eligibility requirement of the Youth Employment Program, Please ensure you meet these requirements before applying)

About the job:

We're looking to recruit 6x Support Officers to join the team at H.M. Prison Dhurringile, based in Dhurringile on a full-time 9-month fixed term contract, with the potential to undertake further training and develop a career within the Victorian Public Service.

  •Earn a full-time VPS Grade 1 salary ($49,231 - $52,261)

  •Enjoy education, mentoring and transition support to improve chances of further employment.

  •Anyone aged 18-29 is eligible to apply. Priority consideration will be given to people with a disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) applicants, who have been more adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This position is based onsite, pending Government health directions. Onsite location will be based at H.M. Prison Dhurringile, Murchison - Tatura Road, Dhurringile. You will need to be able to get to and from this location. There is no Public Transport

The daily duties will typically involve tasks such as:

  • Data entry

  • Video coordination for prisoner video visits

  • Filing of payroll paperwork

  • Project support

  • Administration support to the team

H.M. Prison Dhurringile also has a timber factory, metal factory, dairy, horticulture, agriculture and a facilities grounds and garden and maintenance team.  It is therefor feasible that we would be able to support a candidate with an interest / some experience in a trade.
