The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community based facilities. We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Telephone & Communications team. This is a Casual position, based at the Royal Melbourne Hospital City and Royal Park Campus.

Your Opportunity:

The Telephone & Communications Department is a dedicated team of multi skilled staff, who provide a wide range of services over a 24-hour, 7 day a week period. Currently we are seeking dedicated Switchboard Operators to join our team at Royal Melbourne Hospital City & Royal Park Campuses.



Responsibilities will include operating a busy hospital switchboard; actioning emergency calls as specified, transmitting messages via paging system, updating information. This is a multidisciplinary role, which includes weekend shifts providing receptionist support on our information desk and mailroom duties when required.

About You:



  • Medical Terminology knowledge

  • Call Centre / Switchboard experience

  • Excellent customer service & problem solving skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work in both a team environment and autonomously

  • Proficient PC skills, including Word & Excel

  • Effective organizational and time management skills
