Permanent Full time with a monthly ADO,  Permanent Part-time (up to 76 hours /fortnight if shared role)

About the role

The aim of SURC is to provide a pathway for the rapid assessment, symptom and psychological support to patients, and their families; receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT) as well as disease related symptoms.

  • Planned/unplanned calls from patients/carers for symptom advice and management
  • Planned/unplanned clinical presentations for symptom review/support
  • Shared Care Reviews for patients receiving SACT 
  • Primary point of contact for COVID +ve cancer patients  
  • Support to BHS at Home Cancer Stream 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the SURC service in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Patient assessment and triage 
  • Support patients receiving SACT 
  • Provide patient and staff education
  • Promotes oncology nursing leadership within the Directorate

Skills and experience

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration 
  • Significant recent oncology/haematology experience 
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of patients receiving SACT
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills 
  • Highly developed communication skills
  • Advanced level computer skills
  • Ability to work autonomously 
  • Team player
