About the branch

This position will be employed by the Regional Services Division within the Northern Victoria Region, who is coordinating implementation of the Recognition and Settlement Agreement (RSA) on behalf of Parks Victoria. The Region is responsible for the service delivery of initiatives, programs and services. On-ground works and services will conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities and improve opportunities and support fire and emergency management.

The Recognition and Settlement Agreement between Taungurung Land and Waters Council Aboriginal Corporation (TLaWC) and the State of Victoria, under Victoria's Traditional Owner Settlement Act 2010, recognises the Taungurung People as the Traditional Owners of over 2 million hectares of land and waters in central Victoria. As part of the RSA, approximately 769,923 hectares of public land has been transferred to TLaWC under Aboriginal Title, to be jointly managed with the State. The RSA extends across Parks Victoria's Northern and Eastern Regions, and to a lesser degree, Melbourne and Western Regions.

About the role and your responsibilities:  

As the Taungurung RSA Coordinator, you will lead the development and coordinate delivery of Parks Victoria's Taungurung RSA implementation plan, which will detail the steps Parks Victoria will take to meet its responsibilities under the RSA.

You will play a key role in embedding a partnership approach to RSA implementation across Parks Victoria districts and business areas. You will also be a key point of liaison with TLaWC to monitor and progress RSA implementation, and will provide support to assist Parks Victoria's Relationship Holder and other senior leaders to address strategic matters related to the partnership between Parks Victoria and TLaWC.

To be successful for this role you will need:

  • Qualification and/or demonstrated experience in project management, monitoring and evaluation is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience of understanding of formal Traditional Owner recognition processes in Victoria, including provisions under Recognition and Settlement Agreements.
  • Demonstrated success in engaging with Traditional Owner groups and building partner and stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating or managing multiple complex projects and leading delivery of outcomes against agreed action plans.
  • A current employee Working with Children Check is required.
