Technical Assistant (multiple positions)

  • Usual work location: Horsham, Hamilton, Rutherglen (flexibility may be available)

The position of Technical Assistant forms a part of the Agriculture Victoria Research Branch within Agriculture Victoria Group.

The Technical Assistants will support Agriculture Victoria Research (AVR) with field and laboratory activities where results are critical for the delivery of research outcomes across a broad range of projects.

The positions require good practical skills involving the operation of specialised equipment to sow, maintain and harvest experimental field sites, conduct soil and plant sample collection and undertake processing procedures. Attention to detail is fundamental for the accurate and timely collection, collation and manipulation of data from the experiments, as are good literacy skills and ability to follow instructions (verbal and written).

The successful applicants will need to work effectively in a team and be able to co-operate with a range of people, including other technicians, scientists and industry. The successful applicants will be managed by AVR research and technical staff and be required to work within a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with other staff members.
