Transfusion Liaison Officer

Your new role



The RMH Pathology Department is seeking an experienced Medical Scientist or RN to join us in the Diagnostic Haemotology Labatory – Blood Transfusion. You will have a passion for blood transfusion and pride yourself on quality and service excellence in labatory testing.



The Royal Melbourne Hospital Pathology Service provides a wide range of pathology services to The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Melbourne Private Hospital. Melbourne Health provides a broad range of acute health care services including general and specialty adult medical, surgical, pre-operative, mental health and emergency services to our patients and community.



The Blood Transfusion Medicine Service is a busy, modern laboratory performing a range of diagnostic and research investigations – including for the Haematology and bone marrow transplant units, renal transplant unit and many tertiary patient referrals.



Your Contribution



You will have a formal qualification in either:



  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent with majors in Haematology and/or Immunohaematology.

  • Registered Nurse, Division 1- with current Practicing Certificate.


As well as:



  • At least five (5) years scientific experience in a tertiary hospital or private Haematology GX / GY classified laboratory or at least three (3) years nursing experience in this area of speciality - transfusion practice.

  • Excellent organisational, problem solving and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated professional approach to patient care, patient and business unit confidentiality and provision of transfusion laboratory support and related services.

  • Able to work in a NATA environment with a high degree of quality control.

  • Scientific Affiliation with a professional body, VIDG,AIMS,ANZSBT.

  • Computer literacy, familiar with Windows and Microsoft Office software.
