What You Will Be Doing

The Transition to Midwifery Practice can be tailored to suit the needs and interests of the postgraduate trained midwife, with interstate and international applicants also encouraged to apply. The program can be completed in six, nine or twelve months. Your individualized program will include core rotations to Pregnancy Assessment Unit, Birth Suite, Women's Health Inpatients & Antenatal Clinic plus you have the options of selecting additional rotation electives to tailor your own program. The rotation electives available to you include; Midwifery Home Care, Special Care Nursery and Fetal Diagnostic Unit. You will also be provided with the opportunity to become accredited in a range of extended scope of practice skills such as ultrasound, newborn examination, IV cannulation and water birth.

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:
• Current AHPRA registration as Nurse and Midwife
• A demonstrated commitment to delivering high quality outcomes for consumers
• A demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with experience
• An ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Be able to use basic computer software applications
• An ability to use communicate in writing using clear, concise and grammatically correct language
• Great verbal communication skills and can relate to consumers from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds
