Transition to Specialty Practice: Perioperative Services (Perianaesthesia)



  • Full time, 12-month Transition to Specialty Practice program in Perianaesthesia (recovery/anaesthetics)
  • Ongoing position within Austin Health at the conclusion of the program
  • Operating Suites located at both Austin Hospital and Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital

About the operating suites



Austin Health provides surgical services across both Austin Operating Suites (AOS) and The Surgery Centre (TSC) Operating Suites. Our AOS is a dynamic suite with 11 operating rooms, a procedure room, fluoroscopy room and endoscopy rooms. Specialties covered include, but are not limited to: cardiac, neurosurgery, liver transplantation, vascular and plastics.



About the role




Completion of the Transition to Specialty Practice (TSP) program will enable participants to develop high quality skills to deliver evidence-based care to patients in the operating suites. Participants will complete an educational series of tailored learning activities in a supported learning format.



A regular day will see you:


  • Working in the operating suites team environment in recovery and anaesthesia nursing
  • Developing and providing specialist care to patients during their perioperative journey
  • Attending scheduled study days/educational activities and completing competencies and assessment tasks required within the TSP








About you



To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:


  • At least one year’s acute nursing experience
  • A commitment to further self-development and education
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
  • Intention to continue into formal postgraduate program
