Transport Planner

• Annual Salary Range: VPS4 $90,067 - $102,192 per annum plus superannuation
• Employment Type: Ongoing, Full Time
• Usual Work Location: Melbourne CBD

About the Opportunity

The role of the Transport Planner is to develop public transport service plans that support current or future land uses. 

In this ongoing position, you will form part of our high performance team motivated by delivering a modern, productive and environmentally sustainable public transport network.

Reporting to the Manager, Regional Bus and Coach Planning, your position contributes to the development of business cases for investment, service proposals with a strong focus on customer outcomes and network integration. Using a range of tools to analyse data and spatial information, working with a range of stakeholders, to develop infrastructure requirements.

About You

The core skills we require of a Transport Planner centre on tertiary qualifications and experience in the field. Familiarity with planning and mapping software such as HASTUS, TrainOps, will be an advantage. 

Your keys to success include:

• Analytical skills to assess road public transport demand, capacity and infrastructure requirements, rolling stock, travel times and cost estimates
• Strong communication skills with the ability to contribute to written briefs, convey ideas and information clearly and understand your audience
• Excellent problem solving skills especially in dealing with complexity and using analysis to build evidence based decision making
• Good relationship building skills with an ability to challenge ideas, and be challenged
