Clinical Lead Paediatrician - Womens's @ Sandringham

The Women’s Neonatal Service also manages the Special Care Nursery (SCN) at Sandringham Hospital in order to benefit from the co-location of the Women’s @ Sandringham (W@S) Maternity Service.  In 2017, the capacity of the SCN increased to 8 cots. In general, infants born at or above 34 weeks’ gestation will remain at Sandringham unless they require tertiary specialist services.


Position Purpose
The  Clinical Lead  Paediatrician will participate in the clinical care of babies at the Women's at Sandringham Special Care Nursery, babies requiring resuscitation at delivery ,as well as babies who require review on the maternity wards and  babies <7 days of age   presenting to the Sandringham Emergency Department.   This includes participation in an on call roster (Category 1; available within 30 mins) The paediatrician will lead in the education, training, research and administrative activities of Neonatal Services as agreed with the Director (Medical) RWH The Clinical lead Paediatrician will participate in quality assurance and accreditation activities as required, will pursue personal professional development and will lead as a member of the multidisciplinary team of Neonatal Services.


About you


To be successful within this role you will need to have:


Registration with the Medical Board of Australia
Hold an appropriate postgraduate qualification (FRACP or recognised equivalent) in Paediatrics
Have excellent interpersonal skills that faciliate cooperative and collaboratve care across campuses and between disciplines
Demonstrate leadership of senior medical staff and in supervising clinical care, and in providing education and training opportunities.
