The position of UX Developer forms a part of the Information Services Branch within the Corporate Services Group.

Information Services (IS) oversees the delivery of ICT-related investments and services to DJPR. IS engages with the organisation to ensure ICT systems and services are appropriately designed, governed, and delivered. IS offers a range of end-user focused systems and services to the organisation both directly and through third-party providers and provides governance and assurance for systems and services delivered by other groups and agencies within.

The DJPR service environment includes supporting around 5,000 desktops, 3,000 smartphones/mobile devices across over 85 business sites (inclusive of near 20 international sites). Our team consists of around 80 staff, located within the CBD, metropolitan and regional locations.

The UX Developer assists with the delivery and improvement of production services for websites and other online applications across the department.

The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a team, enjoy flexible working arrangements and undertake a wide variety of work across the branch.

The key accountabilities of the role are:

  • Under direction from the team's Senior Online Designer, contribute to the visual and user interface design of online projects, with an emphasis on User Experience, ensuring the needs of stakeholders and Victorians are met and adhere to online standards, accessibility, user behaviours and the Brand Victoria guidelines.
  • Under direction from the team's Lead Developer, provide support for the development of new and existing Intranets and websites on the department's enterprise content management system, Squiz Matrix.
  • Provide technical and design support to departmental staff and vendors on web related services/software by helping, advising, explaining, and resolving support queries/tasks.
  • Contribute to the development of guidelines, functionality and best practice standards for online services across the department.
  • Provide support to the Manager and other team and branch members to achieve the timely and successful delivery of work programs.
