The Victorian Ombudsman (VO) is currently seeking applications from candidates to support the Investigations area by producing high-quality professional documents, investigation report plans, evidence analysis, statements of findings, draft and final investigation reports, including parliamentary reports. You will provide reporting editorial assistance and mentoring to Investigators on an ongoing basis.

  • VPS 5.2 $111,736 - $122,348
  • Max Fixed Term Contract – ends mid-late July 2022

We're the Victorian Ombudsman. Our office provides a free, independent, accessible and impartial service to all Victorians. Our purpose is to ensure fairness for Victorians in their dealings with the public sector, to improve public administration and to foster confidence in the integrity of the sector.

You will bring to this opportunity a mix of experience in:

  • Relevant and recent work experience in investigative or government report writing on complex jurisdictional and administrative law matters and issues
  • Exceptional written communication and report writing skills;
  • A sound knowledge of legal, regulatory, investigatory, and/or public sector environments, and a familiarity with working with legislation, or a demonstrated ability to quickly acquire such knowledge;
  • High level cognitive, problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills, including demonstrated lateral thinking;
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, ensuring tasks are delivered within agreed deadlines;
  • Ability to work in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders in a way that supports and promotes organisational cultural values
  • Degree or higher qualification in a relevant discipline – or relevant years of work experience. A qualification in professional writing or editing would be advantageous.
