Are you an organised strategic thinker and experienced conciliator wishing to harness the strategic resolution of disputes?

The Victorian Ombudsman (VO) is currently seeking applications from energetic and organised strategic thinkers and experienced conciliators. The role of Principal Officer, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) requires deep and progressive understanding, skills and experience in modern-day complaint resolution and significant experience in effectively engaging with internal and external stakeholders harness the strategic resolution of disputes. They will lead the development of an alternative dispute resolution and conciliation function within VO, including its strategy and policy.

Available opportunity:

  • VPS 6.1 $124,033 - $145,009 per annum  plus 10% employer superannuation contribution

You will bring to this opportunity a mix of experience in:

  • A deep understanding of complaint resolution and conducting conciliations in a legislative context.
  • Demonstrated energetic leadership with the ability to effectively lead, manage and mentor a small high performing team.
  • Project management skills proven to deliver sound record of achievement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate  with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders on sensitive and complex matters.
  • Analytic and problem-solving capability, including demonstrating lateral thinking, strategic thinking with sound judgment and decision-making.
  • Sound knowledge of the Victorian public sector and a familiarity with legislation, or a demonstrated ability and experience to acquire such knowledge. 
  • Formal qualifications and/or training in complaint handling or a related discipline are required (or relevant years of demonstrated experience). Formal qualifications in law, government, social sciences or a related discipline (highly regarded).
