An exciting opportunity has arisen within our General Medicine team at Monash Medical Centre Clayton for an enthusiastic and capable ward clerk.


About the Team


Ward 42 provides holistic care to a diverse cohort of General Medicine patients, their relatives and carers. Clerical staff are essential to the functioning of the ward and coordination of patient care in collaboration with our multidisciplinary team providing 13 hour day time coverage of the ward.  Patients are admitted to general medicine with a wide variety of acute medical problems who can be discharged to a variety of settings including home, other health care services and aged care services.


About the Role


Our ward clerks are often the first point of contact for patients being admitted to our ward and their relatives. Supported by your nursing, allied health and medical colleagues you will be an essential part of the team in ensuring our patients receive excellence in care and compassion. Your role will include welcoming patients and relatives to the ward, ensuring the administration component of admissions, transfers and discharges is completed whilst also being the first point of contact for family and other health care professionals’ inquiries. The ward clerk is also a key support for the Nurse in-charge. A component of this role also includes stock management for administrative consumables.  If you enjoy a busy fast paced environment where you are crucial to the team’s success in delivering care then this is a role for you.

  • Ability to show initiative, work autonomously and as part of a team

  • Flexibility to adapt workload to changing priorities and needs.

  • Familiarity with iPM systems and healthcare administration.


You will be provided with the necessary training to undertake this role however previous ward clerk experience would be an advantage


Hours currently available are as follows:


Full-time, fixed-term (12 months), Monday – Friday, predominantly AM shifts
