Monash Health's team at Casey Hospital is looking for motivated Ward Clerks to join the team in Tower 2.

  • Be the frontline support for patients and their carers entering the service

  • Permanent position working Monday 3:00pm – 8:00pm and Friday 7:00am – 3:00pm 

  • Fixed term position June – August 2021, working Monday – Thursday inclusive, 7:00am – 3:00pm

In Tower 2 at Casey Hospital we have a cardiology/coronary care unit and a general medical ward.  We now have opportunities for motivated Ward Clerks to join our team, one in a permanent position and one in a fixed term position until 1 August 2021.

About the roles

Healthcare administration is fast paced and our Ward Clerks occupy an integral role in the team. The Ward Clerk is the first person to greet our patients and visitors and has a major role to play in the smooth running of our service.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Registering patient information

  • Admissions, discharges and transfers throughout the Program

  • Procurement, managing inventory and iPROC and managing accounts related to equipment hire

  • Administration and other clerical tasks

Details and working hours of the two roles are provided below.

Permanent position working 12.5 hours per week as follows:

  • Monday    3:00pm – 8:00pm

  • Friday       7:00am – 3:00pm

Fixed term position June – early August 2021 working 30 hours per week as follows:

  • Monday – Thursday inclusive 7:00am – 3:00pm

About You

You are a proactive, experienced healthcare administrator who enjoys a fast paced environment and can work effectively in an autonomous role. Prioritising comes naturally to you and being in a hospital environment you exhibit integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.

What you need

We are looking for:

  • A friendly and welcoming approach, with exceptional and effective communication skills

  • Proven customer service experience is a necessity, and health administration experience will be extremely highly regarded

  • Familiarity with Excel, iPM, KRONOS, EMR, iPROC - essential

  • A proactive attitude, highly organised and proven ability to work autonomously and multitask in a busy environment

  • Proficient with Procurement processes, equipment hire and processing invoices

Ideally you are familiar with the set up and functions of an inpatient unit.
