  • Full training providedincluding a fully funded Certificate IV in Youth Justice 
  • Earn up to $90,555 with penalty rates on a base salary of $58,539 

We are currently recruiting casual and full-time youth justice workers to start at Cherry Creek and Parkville Youth Justice Precincts, our secure facilities housing young people on remand or sentenced to a period of imprisonment.

As a youth justice worker on a night shift, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of our facility overnight

Duties include CCTV monitoring, compliance reporting, and responding to alarms and perimeter searches 

To be successful, you will be a keen problem solver with great situational awareness.

Cherry Creek is in Little River, just off the Princess Freeway. It's an easy drive from many of Melbourne's western suburbs, as well as Geelong. Staff can access onsite parking. 

Parkville is in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne. It is easily accessible by public transport and offers staff car parking. The facility accommodates young people (boys and girls) from 10 years old to 22 years old.

Eligibility

To be considered for a youth justice worker role you must be either:

  • an Australian citizen – a birth certificate, citizenship certificate or current passport is required as proof of eligibility
  • a permanent resident of Australia
  • a New Zealand citizen who has entered Australia on a valid passport, or eligible to work in Australia for a period of more than six months.

You will also need to pass a health and fitness assessment. Learn how your current fitness levels match up and the best ways to prepare.

Prior to starting work, all successful candidates must independently obtain:

  • Current First Aid Certification (HLTAID011 is preferred, or the Provide Basic Emergency Life Support course - HLTAID002 at a minimum)
  • Current CPR
  • Hold a valid Working with Children Check (Employee)

A driver licence is desirable but not mandatory.
