Fisheries Officer's main responsibility is to ensure the compliance with fisheries laws and regulations. These regulations are in place to ensure our fisheries resources are sustainable and shared by the Victorian fishing community. Fisheries Officers also participate in public education and awareness programs.

What they do

  • Patrolling Victoria's marine and inland waters by foot, vessel or vehicle.
  • Inspect commercial and recreational fishers to ensure compliance with legislation.
  • Operate four-wheel drive vehicles and a range of different vessels including kayaks or small punts through to large ocean-going vessels.
  • Undertake surveillance work and investigations.
  • Educating, advising and providing information to the community.
  • Respond to fishing offence reports received via the 13FISH offence reporting telephone line.

Qualifications or experience

You don't need any previous work experience in a similar role to apply. All training is provided.
