The BRHS Aboriginal Health Unit actively supports our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to work towards improving their health and the health of their Community.  In this role you will play an important part in ensuring the services received by Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people are culturally appropriate and meet the specific needs of individuals and their families.

Depending on your background, your role may include including assisting individuals understand the health service, conditions and treatment options, providing access, care coordination and support services, being a key resource for staff and contributing to strong partnerships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organizations (ACCHO's).  Please read the position description for further details on the scope of the role.

Role criteria:

  • Qualification in Community Service/Development, Aboriginal Health, Registered or Enrolled Nursing or substantial relevant experience.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with Aboriginal groups and services
  • Strong commitment to social justice with demonstrated ability to advocate on behalf of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and empower people to self-advocate.
