Werribee Mercy Hospital is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department as an Access and Flow Navigator. The Emergency Department provides care to over 48,000 patients annually, of which 25% are paediatric patients.  Our community is culturally diverse with 1 in 2 families being born overseas. The department has a great team culture with the primary focus of delivering patient centred timely care. In this position, you will support the Nurse Unit Manager in establishing models of care, patient flow principles and be a professional role model for staff employed in the unit.

The Assess and Flow Navigator will:

  • Establish key performance objective to ensure the timely provision of access targets across the Emergency Department, Short Stay Unit and inpatient admissions.
  • Optimise patient flow to achieve timely patient care and promote a positive patient experience.
  • Ensure the smooth and expedient movement of all patients through the Emergency Department and Short Stay Unit in accordance with the Emergency Access Target key performance indicators as mandated by the Department of Health.
  • Work with the multidisciplinary to identify and remove barriers impacting access to timely care.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to facilitate timely Emergency Department / Short Stay Unit access and flow.
  • Permanent Part-Time positions available.
  • Work a 7-day roster, AM & PM 8-hour shifts, No Night Duty.

ABOUT YOU:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced nurse to join our team and provide clinical leadership and innovation within the unit. You will be enthusiastic and motivated to progress change with excellent communications skill, demonstrated knowledge of patient access and flow principles and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.

 You will have:

  • Current Nursing Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Emergency nursing
  • Post Graduate qualifications in Emergency Nursing (desirable)
  • Demonstrated previous experience in Nursing leadership
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key performance indicators related to patient flow and access.
