About the role


South Ward is located within the Peter James Centre. It is a 25 bed acute inpatient unit specializing in Aged Person’s Mental Health.


We provide 24-hour mental health care to vulnerable aged persons suffering from mental illnesses and their comorbidities.


South Ward aims to



  • Optimise client continuous care and streamline activity

  • Treat clients in the least restrictive ways in accordance to the Royal Commission into Mental Health

  • Improve links with mental health and primary health services/agencies

  • Enhance access for vulnerable consumers

  • Provide recovery oriented care, empowering consumers to make informed decisions about their care


We have ECT facilities onsite.  In joining our team, you will be part of a highly dedicated multi-disciplinary team incorporating medical, nursing, clerical and allied health professionals. We pride ourselves on providing our patients with timely access to high quality care.

About you 


To be successful in this role you will possess:



  • Experience in Aged Person's Mental Health

  • Current nursing registration with AHPRA

  • Post Graduate qualifications in Mental Health Nursing

  • Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience

  • A strong commitment to high quality care

  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
