The Honourable Justice Attiwill is seeking a legally qualified person to be his Associate for a period of 12-18 months, commencing in early October 2022.

Justice Attiwill undertakes a wide variety of general commercial and corporations matters within the Commercial Court of the Supreme Court of Victoria including contract, equity and trusts, insolvency, oppression proceedings, directors' duties and shareholder disputes, property disputes and urgent duty judge matters.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience at the Court and contribute to the administration of justice.

About you

You should have:

  • a very strong academic record (first class honours) with excellent research skills;
  • an ability to communicate clearly and concisely;
  • an attention to detail;
  • excellent time management and organisational skills;
  • a strong interest in a career in the law.

The duties include:

  • proof-reading and editing;
  • performing administrative tasks and managing the daily demands of Justice Attiwill's list of cases;
  • acting as chambers' first point of contact, liaising with Court staff, the public, the media and the profession;
  • undertaking high level legal research; and
  • performing the duties of an Associate in Court.
