  • Location: Negotiable within the Gippsland Region Contribute to and support the recovery of East Gippsland’s biodiversity impacted by the 2019-2020 bushfires through the delivery of deer, fox and weed control projects.

The Biodiversity Recovery Project Officer is responsible for the planning and delivery of projects that reduce threats (weeds, deer and foxes) to important biodiversity values recovering from bushfire.

The position will undertake external service provider contract management; and, develop and maintain strong working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to projects and contracts are delivered in a coordinated manner. Effective record and data management, analysis and reporting (including preparation of written, verbal and geospatial/mapping information) is critical to this role.

The successful applicant will be an experienced biodiversity or natural environment management professional with proven skills and experience in project and contractor management and a strong commitment to working as part of a team to collectively deliver Gippsland's Bushfire Biodiversity Response and Recovery Program funding package.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of biodiversity and ecological communities in Gippsland region.
  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in natural resource management or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate experience and competence with spatial data management systems is highly desirable.
  • Current Victorian driver's licence (mandatory).

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2022.
