Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Business Manager to join our Continuing Care Division, specifically the NDIS expansion of registered services.  

NDIS@Austin is part of the Continuing Care Division. NDIS@Austin program provides NDIS funded services to eligible NDIS participants with complex support needs.   This includes participants with neurological impairment, acquired brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, ventilation needs and home enteral nutrition support.  NDIS@Austin aims to deliver expert care to NDIS participants who choose Austin Health as their preferred provider.  The purpose of NDIS@Austin is to ensure NDIS participants can have both their health and disability needs met by expert state-wide service providers and industry leaders at Austin Health if they choose.

The NDIS@Austin program will facilitate home based and ambulatory interdisciplinary services to patients. The NDIS Business Manager will have responsibilities across the health service and will travel between all three campuses and Austin’s community partners as required.

The NDIS Business Manager has responsibility for the development of the business, operational and quality commissioning models to support Austin Health’s service provision under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This includes the accounting, financial, reporting, administrative functions and quality commissioning reporting for departments delivering services under the NDIS as well as providing support and education to relevant Austin staff.

To be successful in this role you must demonstrate/Key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage human, financial and physical resource performance to ensure provision of high quality services within budget, and achievement of all service delivery targets.

  • Develop and implement financial plans, manage resources and provide accounting guidance for services delivered under the NDIS.

  • Assist in the design, development, operation and tracking of financial and activity data systems.

  • Lead and manage financial accounting, accounts payable, invoicing, reconciliation and asset management.

  • Participate in the planning and monitoring of budgets and forecasts to support a cost efficient use of resources in providing NDIS services.

  • Provide financial management of NDIS services

  • Work closely with clinical leads and home units of staff providing NDIS services in relation to performance, operations, conduct and service delivery

  • Development and implementation of the NDIS Business Plan

  • Ensure compliance with the NDIS Safeguard Quality Audit requirements

  • Identify and develop new NDIS opportunities within the health service

  • Develop and foster a supportive and effective team culture and environment

  • Implement effective monthly reporting systems to collect, analyse and monitor achievement of agreed service delivery targets and quality indicators and timely reporting to relevant funding bodies including NDIS

  • Marketing Austin Health NDIS services to promote our capacity and the quality product/service that we provide and become a provider of choice for people with a disability

  • Develop and consolidate strong relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders

  • Maintain relationships with the Department of Health, Department of Education and Training and the National Disability Insurance Association

  • Ensure all aspects of legislative compliance are maintained to meet NDIS provider status.
