Ambulance Victoria (AV) is recruiting for a permanent, full time Capability and Response Coordinator to join our Emergency Management Unit, located in the CBD. The Emergency Management Unit is responsible for leading the development of emergency management policy and effective emergency management planning and resilience across Ambulance Victoria.

The primary focus of this role is to lead the development and implementation of contemporary emergency management training and exercise program in line with best practice, organisational objectives, and legislative requirements. The position is also responsible for coordinating AV's emergency management lessons management program. During emergencies or escalations of the Emergency Response Plan, the role will be required to undertake a functional or lead within the Ambulance Emergency Operations Centre (AEOC).

About the role

Reporting to the Manager, Emergency Management the main duties of the role include (but are not limited to):

  • Developing, managing, and coordinating training programs to support emergency management and specialist response capabilities and initiatives
  • Coordinating staff participation in emergency management training courses/conferences to enhance AV's capability to respond to major emergencies
  • Coordinating staff participation in emergency management training courses/conferences to enhance AV's capability to respond to major emergencies
  • Managing, coordinating and conducting incident debrief state-wide as indicated by the AV Emergency Response Plan (ERP) or required by the State Health Commander.
  • Developing and implementing a communications plan to keep all personnel with specialist skills aware of relevant changes, developments and enhancements to specialist processes, training, equipment, or governance.
  • Undertaking the role of Regional Health Commander – Metro (RHCM) as rostered (both day-to-day and on call) in line with CAA2 responsibilities.
  • Representing AV at state tier forums to develop training programs designed to support the State's capability to respond and meet the State's emergency management priorities

Required to be available outside of ordinary working hours to provide advice, support or authoritative direction to other employees or managers involved in dealing with emergency or time critical incidents or issues to the authority (CAA2)

About you

This role will suit you if you have experience or knowledge in ambulance, emergency service, health, or allied health service delivery operations, supported by an ambulance paramedic or emergency management qualification or related discipline (AHPRA) registration required.  Strong planning, organisation and time management skills will enable you to establish the priority and scheduling of work task and projects

It will also be beneficial if you have

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Emergency Management
  • Australasian Interagency Incident Management System qualification
  • Experience in incident management at a minimum of AIIMS/ICS Section Leader level
  • Level 3 Incident Controller qualification
  • Health Commander qualification
  • EmergoTrain System ™ qualifications

The salary for the Capability and Response Coordinator position is $174,588 p/a plus super (inclusive of CAA2).
