Cardiac Sonographer – Grade 3   

  • Cardiology Department

  • The Royal Melbourne Hospital - City Campus, Parkville

  • 2 part time positions available, 16hrs per week, work days negotiable

  • Regular education and support from experienced Echo educators

Your new role

  • The Royal Melbourne Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Cardiac Sonographer to join our dynamic team.

  • The primary role involves working in Echo performing transthoracic Echocardiograms on inpatients and outpatients in the Diagnostic Cardiology Department.

  • This is a part time position working 2 days a week.

  • Work days are negotiable.

About us

The Cardiology Department at the Royal Melbourne is in a growth phase with additional beds opening and a new Cath Lab within the next 12 months. The Royal Melbourne Hospital is part of the Parkville precinct and is co-located with the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. The Parkville precinct uses an Electronic Medical Record.

The Echo department has 2 Echo educators and use the latest Philips and GE Echo machines. There are regular education meetings during hours and a diverse range of pathology including adult congenital heart disease. We have a full time Echo inpatient co-ordinator nurse to help with inpatient workflow and to assist with bubble studies/contrast injections.   

Specialty services at RMH include Adult Congenital Heart Disease, complex Electrophysiology, and structural cardiac intervention (TAVI, Percutaneous Pulmonary Valves, Mitral Clip, Left atrial appendage closures, ASD & PFO Closures).

About you

  • Undergraduate Science degree

  • 2+yrs of experience in Cardiology and Echo

  • ASAR accredited
