About us

Corrections Victoria's purpose is to deliver an effective corrections system for a safe community. Community Correctional Services (CCS), is overseen by Corrections Victoria, a division of the Department of Justice and Community Safety. CCS is responsible for the management and supervision of prisoners on parole, clients under post sentence supervision and court orders.

CCS is currently experiencing rapid growth in the offender population. In response to this, Corrections Victoria will embed evidence-based practice across all areas of our work and target responses to the areas that will allow the greatest impacts to be made. This approach will contribute to a safer community and strengthen CCS for the future.

About the role

Based in Ballarat, as a Case Manager, you will, through evidence-based case management practices, manage a case load of medium to high risk offenders ensuring their compliance with court order obligations. In the role, you will:

  • actively engage with offenders and conduct risk assessments and identify individual offending behaviour
  • prepare case plans and provide recommendations to relevant interventions that are targeted to assist in reducing the risk of reoffending
  • model prosocial behaviours to motivate and influence offenders
  • monitor compliance and implement appropriate responses to non-compliance.

Please note that whilst this role is based in Ballarat, you will be required to travel to various locations within the region.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • demonstrated understanding of, and/or experience in, effective case management practices, proactively managing risk with more complex individuals
  • the ability to effectively negotiate and influence complex stakeholders to encourage participation and cooperation
  • strong self-management skills with a focus on achieving service targets and the ability to work autonomously
  • excellent verbal communication skills with assertiveness and confidence in dealing with individuals exhibiting challenging behaviours.
