Child Protection Practitioners

Joining the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) as a Child Protection Practitioner (CPP3) is the first step in a rewarding career where you will personally be making a significant improvement to the quality of life for some of Victorian's most at-risk children.

This is your opportunity to obtain thorough experience and exposure across the entire child welfare process, dealing with a variety of complex matters from beginning to end.

Key Responsibilities Include, however are not limited to:

-          Assessing children and young people in need of protection.

-          Conducting risk assessments and investigations.

-          Working collaboratively with families, community services organisations and other professionals to develop and implement effective plans for children.

-          Managing cases, problem solving and presenting matters to the Children's Court of Victoria as required.

-          Working collaboratively with the Team Manager to strengthen case practice.

-          Provide effective service delivery and support other practitioners.

In this role your social work or welfare qualifications will be welcomed into a supportive and hard-working team who share a common goal.

To be a child protection practitioner you will need a current and valid driver's licence and have completed relevant qualification.

COVID 19 Vaccination

The department strongly recommends (but does not mandate) that employees maintain their COVID-19 vaccination status in accordance with current ATAGI (Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation) advice, given their individual circumstances. As of June 2023, DFFH does not require evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status.
