An exciting opportunity has arisen for interested Nurses at WGHG to join the Learning and Development Unit in the role of Clinical Support Nurse.

We are seeking expressions of interest from motivated, experienced and enthusiastic Nurses to provide clinical support to our Perioperative/Theatre team with a focus on Graduates and Postgraduate participants. This is a Fixed-term part-time position from January 2024 until November 2024. This would entail working with the Learning and Development Unit to provide support to our Clinical Educators within clinical areas via hands-on teaching, mentoring and guidance to all Nurses including Graduate Nurses, Postgraduate Nursing students and Registered Nurses to develop further:

  • Supernumerary supported time in a range of settings
  • Support for the acquisition of clinical skills
  • Supporting continuing professional development
  • Providing clinical supervision
  • Supporting formal education programs

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate an interest in clinical education and support of students and Graduates, as well as holding multiple clinical competencies. It is advantageous if an applicant is a current assessor, although training can be provided for a suitable applicant. This position will suit someone interested in moving into an education role in the future. Further information on this role can be found in the position description.

Our preferred candidate will have:

    • Registration as a Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
    • Demonstrated clinical excellence including advanced scope of practice in Perioperative and Theatre area.
    • Demonstrated experience in preceptoring, supporting and developing others
    • Demonstrated experience in providing administrative/preparation support for relevant education programs/activities

The following experience/qualifications would be considered advantageous:

    • Previous experience in education or desire to work towards an education role in the future
    • Postgraduate qualification in the relevant clinical specialty area
    • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or relevant tertiary qualification in education
    • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel

IMPORTANT: All staff employed in the healthcare sector are required to be fully (3 doses) vaccinated for COVID-19 and Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.
