The Magistrates' Court of Victoria offers an exciting opportunity of Committals Coordinator at the Melbourne Magistrates Court.

This position will play a leading role in conjunction with the Listings Manager in the case management/ coordination of all lists within the indictable jurisdiction at Melbourne Magistrates' Court.

Leadership and people management components are also requirements and therefore requires someone who possesses an advanced understanding of court listing practices and procedures and highly developed negotiation and team leadership abilities. The role requires the person to manage all committal matters at Melbourne Magistrates Court and ensure legislative requirements are met, whilst reporting directly to the Manager of Listings.

The Committal Coordinator is also required to represent the Court on various committees and projects and will liaise with a number of stakeholders including the judiciary, Victoria Police, Office of Public Prosecutions, legal practitioners, various court user groups as well as members of the public.  It is essential that the person possesses excellent interpersonal and both verbal and written communication skills.

  •  As Court Co-ordinator, be responsible for supervising and assessing the day to day case workloads and listing practices and procedures of Committals at Melbourne Magistrates' Court.
  • Monitor the performance outputs of the Court and the demand pressures on its facilities.  Maintain liaison with the Listing Manager MMC, Supervising / Co-ordinating Magistrate and Senior Registrar of the region in relation to the Court's resourcing requirements and adopt flexible solutions to achieve cost-effective outcomes for the Court and improved service delivery to its clients.
  • Analyse and interpret data and statistical information to recognise trends and to make recommendations regarding resource allocations.
  • As a Registrar of the Magistrates' Court, perform appropriate legal, administrative and quasi-judicial functions relating to the day-to-day and ongoing operations of the Court, under limited direction.
