About the branch

The Environment and Science Division provides scientific and technical advice and strategic guidance on environment and conservation matters across Parks Victoria and to the Department of Environment Land Water and Planning and other government agencies on environmental conservation policy, funding needs and program delivery. The Division brings together strategy, planning, science, programming, monitoring and evaluation for Park Victoria with a focus on delivery of frameworks, standards and advice.

This position is in the Conservation Programs unit. The primary function of this unit is to lead development of statewide conservation and threat management programs and operational policy. It has a primary function to provide technical support and coordination to critical programs to address threats such as invasive species.

About the role and your responsibilities:  

As the Conservation Programs Officer, the primary focus of your role is to support the Conservation Programs Unit to manage conservation projects, develop operating procedures for state-wide conservation programs, provide environmental information analysis and preparation of engagement material, briefings and correspondence. You will also provide logistical and administrative support to the Conservation Programs team.

To be successful for this role you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in environmental science, natural resource management or a similar discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in conservation / environmental management and understanding of Victoria's ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated experience in information analysis and report writing, and using common software (e.g. Word, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint).
  • A current Employee Working with Children Check is required.
