VicHealth is the world's first health promotion foundation. Established by the Victorian Parliament in 1987, we were the first agency of our kind worldwide to utilise a hypothecated tax on tobacco to support independent, long-term, evidence-based health promotion practice, partnerships and leadership. We continue to be a global leader in health promotion, as a Collaborating Centre with the World Health Organization and as a technical partner to UNICEF.

  • Make a tangible positive impact on the health of Victorians
  • Contribute to the continued successful delivery of the VicHealth Local Government Partnership

Here at VicHealth we have an amazing mid-career opportunity available to work within our Policy, Strategy & Impact Group.

The Coordinator, Local Government Development will report directly to the Manager, Place-based Approaches, and will provide meaningful contributions in working directly with Local Governments in order to deliver health promotion programs and initiatives. In this exciting role, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing high level, and effective support to a selection of our participating local government councils as part of our VicHealth Local Government Partnership (VLGP).

Drawing on your well-developed project and contract management skills, you will also coordinate various projects and contracts, within the VLGP to ensure project specific milestones are met. You will also be able to demonstrate a degree of event management experience to help plan the VLGP community of practice events and liaise with local governments and expert partners to help bring together a rich learning experience.

You'll ideally bring strong experience working within a local government context, and you'll be able to easily demonstrate a strong track record of building strong and constructive stakeholder relationships. The ability to use initiative, problem solve, and to work collaboratively within a strong team environment will also be primary factors that we will be looking for. We are also looking for a highly driven candidate with a can-do attitude, and a systems-based mindset, who is comfortable with ambiguity and multiple priorities in a fast-paced working environment.

VicHealth is committed to ensuring appointments represent the diversity of our community. Women, Indigenous people, people with disability, young people, LGBTIQ+ people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
