Data Governance & Standards Officer

• Annual Salary Range: $88,955 - $100,930 plus superannuation

About the Team

Mobility and Insights is a division the Department of Transport and is responsible for the delivery of better outcomes for users of the transport system through developing and coordinating customer and transport system insights, strategy, and innovation.

About the Opportunity

This role supports the Manager, Data Governance in establishing and maintaining strong data governance practices and developing data standards across the DOT, contributing to a broader program of work to improve the quality and reliability of data and improve decision making and feeds of data to customers and third parties.

Position Outcomes

• Data Governance – Has supported the Data Governance team to establish policies, standards, and metrics to ensure the effective and efficient use of information in enabling the department to achieve its goals and contributing to a broader program of work to improve the quality and reliability of data.
• Data Quality Management – Has helped develop and maintain frameworks and plans for data quality management for each critical data asset, ensuring adherence to data standards.

About You

As a Data Governance & Standards Officer, you will be expected to demonstrate,

• Systems Thinking (Applied) – Assesses situations and identifies the best systems tools for analysing, understanding the system and addressing problems; Can apply system archetypes to identify common dynamics that appear in different situations; Identifies and understands the impact of particular courses of action on other parts of the organisation or more broadly.
• Data Literacy (Applied) – Considers data sources, collection, and structure impacts in the delivery of data analysis. Generates descriptive statistics and relevant data visualisation leading to decisions under the guidance from subject matter experts.

Qualifications (Mandatory)

• Data Governance capability, and experience with procedures and policies. 
• Knowledge of data governance and management tools.
• Hands on experience with Informatica Axon Data Governance Tool
• Experience operating in a matrix environment, preferably using Agile principles with an exceptional ability to communicate and engage at all levels.
