The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) is an independent statutory authority responsible for preparing and conducting criminal prosecutions in Victoria on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Matters prosecuted by the DPP and the OPP involve serious crimes or matters that are of significance to the fair and effective operation of the Victorian criminal justice system. The OPP consists of the Solicitor for Public Prosecutions and a staff of approximately 475 providing legal and corporate support to the DPP, the Chief Crown Prosecutor and Crown Prosecutors in the exercise of their independent roles in the criminal justice system.

Depositions Officer

Full Time, Fixed term – up to 12 months

The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) has an opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Records Management team as a Depositions Officer!

The successful candidate will be responsible for compiling key prosecution documents and will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance and improvement of the Office's records and documents system, as well as providing administrative assistance where required.

About the Role:

  • Compile accurately and in an efficient manner depositions, including assessing the contents of briefs and liaising with solicitors regarding relevant documents.
  • Updating and maintaining records systems, as well as identifying opportunities to improve record management processes.
  • Providing general administrative support as directed.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide administrative support in a complex, confidential and sensitive environment.
  • The ability to work both in a team and independently with great focus to detail.
  • The demonstrated ability to work under tight time constraints in a dynamic environment.
