Salary range $178,003 - $199,363 plus statutory super.

The Victorian Institute of Teaching have a rare and exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Professional Conduct branch as Director, Professional Conduct on an ongoing basis.

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer the Director, Professional Conduct role offers an outstanding career opportunity for an experienced leader who is passionate about using their expertise to support VIT in its regulation of Victorian teachers.

This role will require you to:

 

  • Lead the delivery of two key functional areas of VIT, investigations and regulatory legal services
  • Develop strategic frameworks and lead the delivery of VIT's risk-based regulatory functions, in line with VIT's vision, purpose, regulatory approach, strategic plan and business plans.
  • Model the Victorian public sector values, VIT behaviours, inclusive change management processes and foster a strong and positive workplace and performance culture across the Professional Conduct Branch and across VIT.
  • Demonstrate strategic management skills and provide professional leadership to staff members in the Professional Conduct Branch to enable individual and team effectiveness and efficiency, and to support professional growth and development.
  • Communicate specialist concepts at the highest levels within VIT, across the Victorian Government and on the national platform.
  • Engage with external stakeholders to represent the VIT and further the VIT's strategic agenda
  • Be a member of the VIT's executive leadership group to provide ideas and leadership
  • Provide authoritative, specialist and expert advice to the Executive, Chief Executive Officer, Council Chairperson, Council members and Committees that takes into account VIT's strategic objectives, community expectations and the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

 

This role will involve exposure to sensitive and objectionable material. The Director, Professional Conduct is responsible for overseeing investigations of allegations of child abuse and neglect, and child sexual abuse.

As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Specialist and expert level knowledge of contemporary and risk-based regulatory practices and processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders and strong negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to develop effective working relationships, lead and motivate a team of professionals and create a positive workplace culture.
