About the role

AV is seeking an experienced Education Lead to contribute to the improvement of Adult Retrieval Victoria's (ARV) training and education processes using contemporary learning practices, consequently increasing value to the patients and the organisation.  This is a part-time (0.3 FTE), permanent position based in South Melbourne.

Reporting to the Director Adult Retrieval Victoria, the responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Providing consultation, expert opinion and guidance on the training and education of ARV staff, Registrars in particular
  • Developing strategies to provide quality learning/education opportunities to meet the needs of ARV
  • Developing a strategic learning and development plan to build ARV's capability and sustainability for the future
  • Providing consultation, expert opinion and guidance on incident review, including the review of ARV cases/incidents and trends
  • Supporting the development of recommendations and education/support of cases referred through the routine case review process
  • Participating in ARV credentialing, interview and appointment processes
  • Developing strong external networks with industry colleagues to facilitate access to expertise
  • Constructing performance development plans in conjunction with direct reports to set performance direction and highlight development needs
  • Providing strong and effective leadership to the Adult Retrieval department by fostering a performance based, collaborative culture, focused on continuous improvement and commitment to world class standards

About you

To be considered for this position you will hold a relevant postgraduate educational qualification or possess significant experience in clinical education.  You will be undertaking or intending to undertake a recognised qualification, i.e. Masters, Post Grad or Diploma in Clinical Education.  You will also be a legally qualified medical practitioner, registered in the State of Victoria and hold appropriate specialist medical qualifications.

To be successful in this role you must have significant and relevant clinical experience in retrieval medicine and be highly proficient in telephone medicine and multiple agency organisation.  You'll be a leader, with strong strategic management and stakeholder relationship skills and will have experience in and knowledge of a medical retrieval service or working in the Australian health system.

Your ability to engage and develop others within the team will assist you in guiding and supporting the team to consequently improve the performance, efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation.

The successful candidate must have a current Victorian Driver's License and be willing to travel throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria when required.

Remuneration will be in line with the AMA Award - Specialist Year 9 (ZHN47)
