About the Opportunity

The Education Programmer is responsible for development, coordination, and delivery of the DET- funded Strategic Partnership Program (SPP) at State Library Victoria, which will deliver online and face-to face workshops to primary students in regional Victoria over the two-year funding period.

Working closely with the Programming Lead, Schools, this role is responsible for developing relationships with schools and teachers, coordinating, and facilitating online learning programs, briefing, and managing authors, devising literacy curriculum resources for participating schools, collecting, and analysing feedback and using that evaluation to improve the program.

The Education Programmer is accountable for the following measurable outcomes:

  • Development and delivery of online author programs and one face-to-face outreach event regionally, per term
  • Co-curation, engagement and relationship management of participating authors
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with regional partnering schools
  • Development of literacy curriculum resources with schools and authors
  • Collecting and analysing feedback for reporting and using that evaluation to improve the program.
  • Maintaining project management plans and documentation and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and on budget.

 

About You

The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of best practice contemporary approaches to literacy instruction and creative writing in primary aged children and general understanding of end-to-end program management and administration required for effective delivery of a project. Experience teaching creative writing and working with authors in an educational or arts context is highly regarded.

In addition, you will come to us with:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Primary education
  • Demonstrated experience of working in primary schools and/or education programming in a cultural organisation
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of literacy curriculum resources.
  • Demonstrated understanding of end-to-end program management or administration including budget tracking and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders in an educational or arts context.
