About the role


1 North has recently transitioned from a 32 bed rehabilitation unit to a 27 bed acute medical (Care of the Elderly) unit. This is to assist with supporting bed capacity within the public health system due to the current COVID healthcare challenges. In the future the plan will be for the ward to return to being a rehabilitation unit which incorporates a 10 bed stroke unit, orthopaedic, neurological and general patients who require rehabilitation following an acute episode of care.


This position would provide you with the opportunity to be involved in the establishment of a new ward model of care and allow you to enhance your acute clinical skills in the care of the elderly within a supportive environment.


On 1 North, staff involvement is actively sought to ensure the continued development of a cohesive, interdisciplinary team that is committed to excellence in patient care.



About you 


To be successful in this role you should possess:



  • A strong commitment to high quality care

  • Competence in clinical practice congruent with your level of qualification and experience    

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and reflective practice

  • Organisational  skills with the ability to work autonomously and within nursing and interdisciplinary teams

  • High level written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated high level of  inter personal skills with consumers, their families and all health care professionals

  • Ability to manage conflict whilst maintaining professional conduct and a resolution focus

  • Computer literacy with common Microsoft platforms and patient management systems

  • Current nursing registration with AHPRA
