About the branch:

The Health Safety and Environment Directorate is part of the People, Safety and Risk Division. The Division provides the strategies, business processes, systems and advice to efficiently and effectively deliver core people and business services to enable Parks Victoria to have a high performing work force and effectively manage risk and drive compliance.

The focus of the Health, Safety and Environment Directorate is to develop, implement and support robust health, safety and environment systems and processes across the organisation.  The directorate provides consistent and timely advice, information and support to managers and employees to enable Parks Victoria to meet its health, safety and environment needs and aspirations.

About the role and your responsibilities:

As the Environmental Advisor, you will support the environment protection (including public health) functions to ensure that Parks Victoria has in place high performing practices to meet its statutory obligations, protect the environment from pollution and waste, and ensure public health.  This involves supporting the development and the implementation of Parks Victoria Health, Safety and Environment Management System and developing and implementing environmental programs and initiatives.

You will provide advice to managers and staff across the organisation, manage and investigate environmental and public health incidents and liaise with/respond to regulators. As Environmental Advisor, you will also have a lead in implementing Parks Victoria's on-site wastewater management programme involving risk management, statewide overview of management and managing internal approvals for new systems.

To be successful for this role you will need:

  • Tertiary qualification in environmental science or related field is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering environment protection projects and/or programmes preferably related to wastewater management.
  • Demonstrated experience in provision of technical advice and support pertaining to practical application of environmental legislation, regulations and Australian Standards.
  • A current employee Working with Children Check
