Expression of Interest – Aboriginal Opportunities – Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme
About this role
At the Department of Justice and Community Safety, we are recruiting for a variety of roles within the Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) and are seeking Aboriginal people who are committed to making a difference and take pride in their work. These roles will involve a range of responsibilities, including reviewing and approving applications for financial assistance, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and supporting Aboriginal victims of crime.
Other potential responsibilities include ensuring applications are ready for assessment, providing culturally appropriate advice and support to Aboriginal and other victims, and engaging directly with individuals and their support networks to assist in completing applications.

This landmark reform, created under the Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance Scheme) Act 2022, replaces the judicially based system with a trauma-informed administrative scheme focused on victims' recovery. The FAS provides financial assistance through a simple, fair, and culturally safe process that acknowledges the harm done and responds to victims' needs.
