Role of Facilities and OHS Manager:
Ability to undertake a range of building maintenance and grounds duties appropriate to a school environment including some trade experience relevant to the role.
Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people including staff, students and trades.
Ability to use initiative to investigate, prioritise, action and address maintenance and problematic grounds issues.
Ability to work cooperatively with the principal and school leadership in the management of school buildings, grounds, plant and equipment.
Ability to work during school holiday vacation periods.
Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of Occupational Health and safety legislation and relevant school guidelines and a commitment to work in safe manner.
Role Responsibilities:
Manage the school¿s maintenance management portal (AIMS) and engage and coordinate trades and services for maintenance schedule targets (according to DE policy and ESM program requirements).
Ensure Contractor Management including OH&S Induction and certification is procured and recorded in AIMS and Edu Safe portal.
Manage trades and services for reported OH&S hazard identification rectification - repairs and maintenance checklist items: quarterly OH&S assessments, Playground Inspections and ad hoc reported issues ie. Schools Minor Maintenance Logbook.
Manage trades and services for new capital works projects (School Council approved ¿ Commitment Summary objectives).
Key contact for coordination of DE Contracted Cleaning services at local level and ensuring critical criterion and objectives are met ie. Weekly and periodical cleaning schedule outcomes to recommended and expected standard. Provide feedback and communications.
Ensure the schools local emergency management plan is reviewed according to DE guidelines and that emergency evacuation drills are scheduled, executed and assessed according to policy and procedure. Prepare a quarterly drill report including training needs analysis, as required, for evacuation and lockdown drills. Provide for staff training and information on DE emergency evacuation practice and procedure according to training schedule.
Monitor DE Edu Safe Portal and ensure staff OH&S training modules are completed in line with DE training guideline requirements.
Verify schools building and grounds security through monitor of CCTV cameras periodically. Report on issues and liaise with DE Security for Alarm Access issues and security IRIS Alerts.
Liaise with Salto Security Systems for service and security needs at the school ¿ manage the key security management system.
Using trade capability and school¿s tools and equipment, rectify minor maintenance issues and repairs for buildings and grounds where required.
