What You Will Be Doing

The Mornington Adult Community Mental Health and Intensive Treatment Teams provide community care for people aged 26-64 years who experience mental health challenges or distress and require holistic treatment and wellbeing supports.

The Consumer Peer Worker role has been developed specifically for people with a personal experience of mental health challenges and recovery to provide holistic support to people accessing community mental health services and supports. Peer Workers are empathetic listeners who promote hope, choice and connection in their relationships with others.

Peer Workers work closely with clinical, allied health and other peer work staff. As key members of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, Peer Workers share their lived/living experience and expertise to ensure care is consumer-led, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed.


What You Need

We anticipate you will have:
• Personal experience of mental health challenges or distress and recovery
• Recognition and understanding of own experiences and ability to use this to support consumers
• Ability to use lived/living experience expertise to support the work of the multi-disciplinary team and ensure practice is sensitive to the needs of consumers, families and carers
• Commitment to working collaboratively with relevant services providers and community groups
