Forensic Clinical Specialist, Mental Health - Fixed Term, Full time available! Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Work or Psychologist

The Forensic Clinical Specialist will be a valued member of the mental health team. The Forensic Clinical Specialist Program (FCSP) works to improve the expertise and capacity of the clinical mental health workforce to optimally assess and treat consumers with dual vulnerabilities of serious mental illness and risk of offending.

We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following requirements to apply for this exceptional opportunity.

  • A minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience within mental health services and or correctional services.
  • Registration as per profession (AHPRA) and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and or experience in forensic mental health.
  • Commitment to improving mental health care for consumers with dual vulnerabilities of serious mental illness and risk of offending.
  • Extensive experience in risk assessment, risk management and working with consumers with serious mental illness and complex needs.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, problem solving and conflict resolution.
  •  A comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, Crimes & Mental Impairment (Unfitness to be tried) Act 1997, the Serious Offenders Act 2018 and other relevant legislation.

Mental Health Services at Albury Wodonga Health

AWH is an Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, providing mental health treatment, care and support, including delivering Alcohol and Other Drugs services. We deliver 10 specialised community-based programs, along with three acute care services and three facilities dedicated to recovery and rehabilitation. We also provide services supporting families coping with parental mental illness and facilitating connections to carer consultants.
Our Mental Health and Wellbeing teams comprise mental health clinicians with a background in nursing, occupational therapy, social work, and psychology, all of whom have experience in helping people through a range of therapies. The diversity of our service provides a range of experiences for our team and will assist you in expanding and embedding your clinical practice skills.

Relocating to the region?

The Incentive program was designed by the Department of Health to support the attraction, relocation, and retention of mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) workers to priority positions area mental health and wellbeing services across rural and regional Victoria.
