About Emergency Medicine


Monash Health has Emergency departments at our major campuses of Monash Medical Centre - Clayton, Casey Hospital and Dandenong Hospital.  Re-development is underway to significantly expand our services to provide best possible care for critically ill or injured patients at our Clayton campus, with expected completion early 2022. Emergency care is provided to over 154,000 patients each year.  Our emergency department clinical staff employ a structured education support program including comprehensive orientation and clinical support.  Our mission is to deliver quality, patient-centred health and services that meet the needs of our diverse community.


About the Role


The Emergency Department is looking for positive, committed and inspiring General Practitioners to join a multidisciplinary team to provide safe and effective person centred care, providing teaching and supervision of resident medical staff and medical students.


The role will have responsibility to undertake:



  • Patient assessment and management in consultation with the treating consultant

  • Patient care coordination

  • Family member communication, feedback and liaison

  • Extensive interraction with other health professionals, especially the nurse and allied health staff

  • Provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary treating team

  • Self-management including time management, accessing education and training and college requirements (as necessary)

  • Commitment towards key organisational initiative.


What you need:



  • Current Medical Registration with AHPRA

  • A medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) recognised by AHPRA for General Registration

  • Appropriate level of clinical knowledge and skills to under the role of General Practitioner in Emergency Department

  • Previous clinical experience working in an Emergency department (preferrably tertiary hospital).

  • Motor vehicle drivers licence (may be required to travel between campuses)

  • Ability to work in all Emergency department locations (including Clayton, Casey & Dandenong)

  • Fellowship of RACGP (highly desireable)
