Monash Pathology is seeking an energetic, motivated, and detail-oriented scientist to become a Genomics Variant Curator.  


About Monash Pathology


The Genetic and Molecular Pathology Laboratory is NATA accredited for various cytogenetic and molecular tests and is the state reference laboratory for Thalassemia and Haemophilia.  The Genomics team within Monash Pathology is currently preparing for NATA accreditation of our whole exome service. The successful candidate will also be involved in components of the NATA accreditation of other new genomic testing technologies as they are introduced.


About the Role


This is a full-time position with an initial tenure until June 2021 with potential to become a permanent position. You will be responsible for curation and precise classification of genomic variants identified by state-of-the-art next generation DNA sequencing. You will be working with a growing genomics team within Monash Pathology for the development of our whole exome sequencing service in germline as well as somatic disorders. You will be working closely with the clinicians from Monash Genetics and involved in service delivery, recruitment and training programs, quality assurance programs, MDT meetings and NATA audit processes. This position has the potential to be involved in cutting edge technologies, service growth and research and development.
