  • Part time, two days per week paid employment in our maternity wards

  • One day per week of clinical placement to meet course requirements

  • Ongoing employment may be offered pending successful completion of all requirements (including midwifery registration) and available organisational midwifery vacancies.

About The Role


Complete your post graduate diploma of midwifery whilst developing your midwifery practice


Postgraduates will work within a multidisciplinary framework caring for women throughout their pregnancy, birth, postnatal and home visits. Care is also provided for women and babies who experience complex health issues.
Successful applicants are employed part time for two days per week. Some supernumerary shifts will also be required. Monash Health is renowned for its commitment to providing clinical support and orientation program facilitated by both Midwifery educators and Clinical Support Midwives.


Supernumerary time is available at the beginning of the program to ensure you are supported whilst employed.


These are fixed term part time opportunities, working 2 days a week, working across all clinical shifts within the program.


When do I start?


Your postgraduate studies would commence in February 2022 with your employment commencing in March 2022 for 18 months. This is a great opportunity to further your clinical practice while being well supported as you undertake postgraduate studies.


About You


You have been developing your clinical skills as a Registered Nurse within an acute setting and are looking to grow your career as a Registered Midwife showing your commitment and passion for Women Centred Care. You can demonstrate the following:



  • Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) registration as a Registered Nurse with current practicing certificate

  • Minimum of 12 months acute nursing experience

  • Completion of a Graduate program is desirable with rotations in acute areas

  • That you meet the enrolment requirements for Deakin University.

  • You are an advocate of Monash Health’s Strategic Guiding Principles

What You Need:



  • Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) registration as a Registered Nurse with current practicing certificate

  • Current and satisfactory Working With Children’s Check

  • Australian working rights
