The Recruitment Services branch within the Department of Justice and Community Safety provides expert advice and support to the department on all recruitment related matters, including attraction, selection, redeployment and other recruitment and retention practices. Working within the Department of Justice and Community Safety's (the department) strategic objective of “building a high performing justice system”, Recruitment Services delivers consultative, progressive, innovative, fair and ethical recruitment solutions.

About the role:

The Head of Talent provides high level attraction and selection consultancy services for all senior executive appointments across the department. In this position, Head of Talent designs and implements proactive sourcing strategies and targeted marketing techniques to attract suitable talent within passive and non-passive markets. This role also develops strategic solutions to meet yearly workforce demands with consideration of labour force trends.

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Recruitment Services and Employment Programs, the Head of Talent is responsible for executing the executive talent strategy and will be accountable for the recruitment lifecycle with a focus on candidate experience and continuing to build the department's employment brand.

This role also leads the recruitment delivery team (25 pax) to successfully deliver the yearly hiring forecast.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a multi discipline teams responsible for the delivery of a yearly hiring forecast for a diverse array of highly qualified and specialist positions.
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to a team of experienced staff, including recruitment, training, induction, coaching, and development to assist the broader team to meet performance goals.
  • As part of the Recruitment Services leadership team, develop the executive recruitment strategy and business plan for the recruitment delivery team and the broader Recruitment Services strategy each financial year, providing leadership in the delivery and tracking of planned actions.
  • Strategically partner with key executive stakeholders to analyse workforce demands and labour force trends and develop and monitor recruitment target hires forecasts, identifying where potential issues may exist or arise and developing innovative solutions to ensure that projected forecasts can be met.

About you:

We are seeking an accomplished people leader who can continue to drive exceptional service delivery through their people and lead from the front.  You will need to demonstrate extensive experience in executive search and selection coupled ideally with an inhouse and/or end to end executive recruitment background.  Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of the department and provide contemporary and expert talent advice is key.
