About the role

South West Healthcare's (SWH) Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Department provides support, training and services to the Organisation in relation to best practice health and safety and initiatives to improve and build a safety culture.

We are seeking a dynamic Health, Safety and Wellbeing Officer to join the People and Culture Division. Reporting to the Safety and Security Manager, with a dotted line to the Staff Health and Wellbeing Manager, you will play a key part in developing a safety culture across the organisation through the implementation of various initiatives. Working in a fast-paced and 24/7 environment, you will be required to undertake workplace assessments, identify and implement best practice safety systems and initiatives and support the maintenance of effective emergency response systems.

A key function will include developing the skills of managers across the organisation to support ‘on-the-job' training including the safe use of equipment and materials. You will also be responsible for maintaining records, compiling reports and supporting the effective operation of OHS committee meetings.

The position is a part-time permanent position (0.8FTE). 

What you bring

You will have experience in providing support, advice and coaching to managers on compliance, legislative obligations and best practice. Demonstrated experience in supporting and promoting a safety culture in a complex environment and well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
