The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded community-based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whilst our firefighters are the cornerstone of CFA services, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important in helping to protect lives and property.

We are looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join the CFA team at our Burwood East Headquarters. This broad generalist role will require you to provide sound HR support and advice on a variety of employment related matters including:

  • Interpretation of policies, procedures, legislation and enterprise agreements

  • Coaching managers and employees to use self-service options where available.

  • Producing high quality written communications

  • Conducting position evaluations

  • Assessing relocation assistance claims and coordinating the reimbursement process

  • Supporting and advising on recruitment strategies

You will be confident in building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including both operational and non-operational staff, and supporting case management in collaboration with the People & Culture Business Partner (PCBP).

You will thrive in the challenges of a complex and changing environment and have a continuous improvement mindset to identify opportunities to enhance HR practices and systems.

The keys to your success will be:

  • Qualification in Human Resources or other related field and/or proven experience undertaking a similar role in a large and complex organisation.

  • Considerable generalist HR experience working across a variety HR practice areas including evidence of maintaining knowledge of a variety of HR best practices.

  • Sound knowledge and application of key legislation pertaining to employment

  • Ability to interpret complex employment agreements and policies and the ability to recognise when to engage or escalate to the HRBP

  • Experienced in formal position/job evaluation methodology.

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills including the ability to actively listen and speak with confidence to all levels of staff.
